Post Insulator Bracket

Post insulator brackets are designed to mount and secure post-type insulators to the surface of power transmission and distribution poles. The brackets can be used to secure insulators to wood, concrete, steel, or composite poles.

The insulator brackets can be used for post-type insulators ranging from 15 kV to 34.5 kV. The brackets typically have a base that is pole-shaped to make installation easy. With these brackets, insulators can be mounted on opposite sides of the transmission pole for “armless” construction or mounted phase-over phase.

The main function of post insulator brackets is to mount and secure distribution post insulators to the structure of the utility pole.

Key Features:

  • Main material is ductile Iron and galvanized steel coating.
  • Used to mount and support post-type insulators on utility poles.
  • Designed with a pole-shape back for easy installation.
  • Allow for mounting of post-type insulators in a phase-over phase arrangement or on opposite sides of the pole for “armless” construction.

Types of Post Insulator Brackets

There are different types of post insulator brackets to suit different applications including:

  • Curved base Brackets:

These brackets have a pole-shaped back that allows for mounting of post insulators in a horizontal position with a 5-degree up sweep commonly referred to in Lineman’s slang as “chicken wing”. Curved base brackets are versatile and can be used for both armless construction and phase-over-phase mounting.

  • Side Mounted Brackets:

Side-mounted brackets are used to mount post-type insulators to the side of utility poles in a horizontal position with a 15-degree up sweep. Made with high-quality 3/8″ x 21/2″ bar steel and hot dip, side-mounted brackets are designed to facilitate a stringing block.

  • Uni-Brackets:

Uni-brackets are used to mount three post-type insulators on top of the utility pole without requiring a cross arm. They give a clean appearance and only require two 3/4″ bolts for attachment making them cost-effective and efficient. Uni-Brackets fit poles ranging in diameter from 6″ to 81/2″ and can be adapted to a variety of distribution utility poles.
