Distribution Grip Dead-End
The Distribution Grip, also called Distribution Grip Dead-End serves as an integral part of the electrical distribution system. Its main purpose is to terminate bare aluminium-based conductors, having a lay structure of the right-hand pattern. It assures the exact termination of conductors without the extra of cutting and splicing, thus the electricity network remains undamaged.
This product comes in different types to accommodate the varying range of conductors from 0.182 inches to over 1.2 inches in diameter. With such varying designs, the product can easily provide the necessary holding strength in standard distribution preventing conductor distortion during installation or service.
Distribution-Grip Dead-End is a stand-alone device requiring no other secondary tools for its use. It eliminates the need for bolts, nuts, washers, and other parts that could potentially be lost or damaged. However, as a cautionary recommendation, dead ends are not to be re-used after the original installation
Manufactured using aluminized steel, this device can withstand substantial mechanical strength present in primary, secondary, and substation feeders. However, it is good to note that the device is not recommended for use with high temperature or low-sag conductors such as ACSS, ACSS/AW, ACSS/TW, and ACCR. Other types of conductors with loose, and or annealed outer layer strands are also not recommended for use with this device.

Frequency Asked Questions
Is specialized equipment needed for installation?
When using the Distribution-Grip Dead-End, there is no need to use any equipment. The design of the device is simple and straightforward forward making it easier to fix without the need of any equipment. This not only saves time but also the resources that could have been used in purchasing the accessories. However, this is not the case with the hot stick applications which require the use of a specialized stick to install this product.
What are the materials and durability like?
Distribution-Grip Dead-End is constructed from high-quality aluminized steel. This makes sure the device can withstand the increased mechanical tensile which is often present in various primary, secondary, and tertiary distribution feeds. The material also makes sure the device can withstand different environmental conditions and hence longevity and durability are guaranteed.
Is the Distribution Grip suitable for specific conductor types?
In most cases, Distribution-Grip Dead-End tends to be specific for bare aluminum-based right-hand-lay conductors. Its design ensures optimal holding strength without causing damage or requiring splicing. This specialization guarantees the termination’s effectiveness and reliability, catering to the unique requirements of distribution systems using bare aluminium-based conductors.
Are there any restrictions on Distribution-Grip usage?
Distribution-Grip Dead-End has some restrictions to its use. First of all, it is not supposed to be used for anchor wires or overhead shield wires due to hanging problems. It is also not recommended for use with high temperature/low sag conductors. Further Information on these applications can be better obtained through the product descriptions and manual that one is given upon purchasing the product.
